Bites Tale : He thought i was angry... but i was not lah, though i felt a bit disappointed... but i was feeling paiseh instead because my family and friends knew i am very nervous & excited about the dinner... And what if his family knew i am so nervous bout the dinner but got the wrong date... where should i hide my face ah?
How would you react when you are going out dinner with your bf's family for the 1st time?
Excited?
I'm so nervous... don't know what to wear, what to bring, and pray (very hardly) that i'm not going to have new pimples popping out my face or have a bad hair day... start asking mum what should i bring? asking my sis what should i wear... (& the list goes on...)
When the day came... my friends advised me what to wear (wear dress... not pants!), what not to wear (throw your brown men's shoe away! wear some lady like sandal) .. what to do (put a little bit of ICI on you, so you don't look like a dead corpse) etc.
So i got myself ready, waiting for him to pick me up...
Phone rang...
and he said : "I am really sorry! I have mistaken the date! Dinner is not today but is tomorrow!"
Bites Tale : Was so excited when i saw them selling Chocolate Banana Cake, despite it's a little pricey, i bought it to feed my anxiety on how it taste. But the taste is so-so only... I miss the Choc Banana Cake at Zang Toi Cafe @ Sungei Wang, KL.
I always saw this Sate Mesra outlet when i drive passed by Citymall. So went there for lunch last week. My overall verdict is ... pricey. I actually don't mind paying more if the food is nice.. but for that kind of princing... i would go somewhere else.
I do like how the restaurant look though, it's spacious, clean and bright and the staff are very friendly too.
Here's what we ordered and it costs us RM 30.68 (with 1 ice milo @ RM 2.99 and 1 coke @ RM 1.99 + taxes) :-
pic : sate, special kampung style fried rice & thai style chicken rice
My friend ordered the thai style chicken rice... it was not nice as she commented.. i tried.. the chicken were a bit too soft and it was not sour nor spicy.. it was tasteless. We both like their sate and the special kampung style fried rice.. especially the fried rice.. it was fried with belacan... very "aromatic" and nice... but the pricing is abit too high! At RM7.88, it was just plain rice fried with belacan + a bit of vege, add one sunny-side up on top, a little bit of anchovies at the side and some sambal on a piece of keropok ikan... that's pricey.
So now... come to the sate... we ordered chicken sate, beef sate and sate bedal (not sure what is it called in english... it's some intestine part of the chicken).. the texture and taste was ok.. but at 99sen each... it became not so nice... we could easily have better ones from the famous coffee shop at Foh Sang at only 50sen each! and it's more expensive for fish, prawn and mutton sate!
pic : close-up on the sate (this plate of 6 sticks costs us RM 6.83 including taxes)
Take a look at their menu, i am doubtful... really... i mean, with one glance... i am doubtful whether the size of the individual set meal (6 sticks of sate of your choice, 1 nasi himpit (i think is ketupat), 1 piece of fried spring roll + 1 glass of soft drink) is enough for a normal person with an average appetite... definitely is not enough for me. And their individual set meal goes from RM7.99 to RM16.99... that's pricey!

Gosh... i have been repeating the word "pricey" from the beginning of this post until the end!
P/S : They are having some Ramadan Buffet for Berbuka Puasa (Break fasting time) @ RM18.99++ per pax, i think it would be better for you to try during that time... at least it sounds more reasonable.
Sate Mesra Lot S-0-3/S-1-3 Block A, City Mall Lorong City Mall Jalan Lintas 88300 Kota Kinabalu
Pic : Not sure what dish they will serve for the Ramadan Buffet... but it seems quite a bit of choice there..
Bites Tale : I went there quite often... but i always forget to take pics and blog about the food here.. at last, i remembered!
Have you ever tried Chinese-Muslim cuisine? If you have not... and you simply love tangy spices... here is the place for you!
I wish i had remembered to take pic on some of the dishes i like during my previous visits... at least i think they would look much interesting than what i am going to post up today... sigh.. anyway, they are quite good also.
My favourite dish from this restaurant... the dish i must order everytime i go there... is the Seafood stuffed brinjal @ RM 8 (sorry for the blurry pic.. not sure why.. but every pic i took turns out blurry...)
My friend recommended me to try the dumplings... the taste was nice... but the texture is abit too soft for me.. may be it was a little bit over-cooked that day.
Next up, this is very nice... it's stir-fry lamb with pancake.. and you are suppose to eat it by spreading some of the "black" paste onto the pancake, put some minced lamb, wrapped it, put the whole thing into your mouth.. and BITE... simply satisfying i must say!
Another highly recommended dish to try which i didn't ordered this time is the Storm Sand Chicken... it's a fried chicken dish and they sprinkle it with some spice & curry powder... really, really nice! For those who likes eating crabs but scared to dirty their fingers can try their dry stir fry lazy crab. Not forgetting also... the cold noodle.. nice, nice!
This place is normally full during dinner time in weekends, so do make reservation before you go!
Moon Bell Restaurant 月铃菜馆 No. 33, Jalan Haji Saman 88804 Kota Kinabalu (Opposite KK Emporium)
Bites Tale : I ate so much last week that i gain 1 kg... and my appetite becomes bigger that i can't stop eating.
Everyone who knows me knew that i love carbohydrates... breads, buns, cakes... and pizzas!
There's not much choice in KK when it comes to finding the yummiest pizza... So, when i am in my pizza-craving mode, i'd normally go to "Pizza Hut" simply because that's the nearest from where i stay & work... last year, by chance, i also found out that "Yesteryears" at Damai serves not-bad pizzas too and i love the pizzas at "Little Italy" especially...
To my surprise, i found very nice pizza Here... though by it's name it just doesn't click anywhere in my mind that this place serves good pizzas as well!
But it's true... i ordered their "Masala pizza" when i went there for dinner with my parents and their friends, i must say... it's heavenly... i can't describe the taste.. and not sure what they put on their pizza but here's what my parents' friend commented :"hmm (looking at the pizza, took a bite) ... wow (big eyes)... it's so tasty!! i think it's better than the ones at Little Italy!! (took 2nd piece)"
And it is slightly different from the pizzas we normally eat.. the base is pastry like ... compared to the normal bread base or crispy crust that we get from Pizza Hut / Little Italy. Here's how it looks like :-
Pic : Masala Pizza
Oh ya! nearly forgot! they served the best chocolate ice-blended, at RM5.90... it's better than Coffee bean's chocolate ice-blended... and cheaper too!
Pic : Chokie Junkie (i hope i get the spelling correct!)
Sigh... looking at the pictures, i feel like going there already!!!
Fish & Co Lot No. D-G-04 & 05 Ground Floor, Block D Warisan Square Kota Kinabalu (Next to Yogur Berry)

Pic : I also lurve the grilled salmon & new york fish & chips at Fish & Co.!
Bites Tale : i wanted to clap my hands in the cinema after watching this...felt like watching a musical show instead of a movie... i thought i was the only one who think of doing so.. i managed to control myself not to clap... but i heard someone clapping... right next to me... it was him!! Bet he enjoyed it! By the way... this movie brings back my memories on how i enjoyed watching "Grease" , "Grease 2" & "Girls just want to have fun" everyday after school when i was still young...
If you enjoyed watching musical and dancing... go watch it now! Don't missed it!
I personally like Amanda Bynes as Penny Pingleton, Elijah Kelly as Seaweed, James Marsden as Corny Collins and Christopher Walken as Wilbur Turnblad in the movie the best! Even though i enjoyed watching John Travolta's singing and dancing... but may be the "face makeup" was too thick.. that i can't see his facial expression clearly.. but yeah.. he looked cute in the movie!
By the way, do you know there is an older version of this movie?
I remember watching a similar movie also called Hairspray when i was still young... my elder sis loves to watch it.. so i got to watch with her too!
So i went online to search for it... and yes... there is... the 1st original movie... Hairspray in 1988... the starring was Ricki Lake as Tracy Turnblad... who also make an appearance (as the talent scout) at the last part of the show. I remember i enjoyed it better then... but i may be too young to judge at that time... anyway, this 2007 version of Hairspray is not to be missed either!
Bites Tale : On 18.09.06 i started my 1st blog after being encouraged by a friend... It's been exactly 1 year and i'm still blogging... enjoying every bits of it.. the best part is, I get to know lots of new friends and everyday, reading their blog is a learning process for me ... there's so much i can learn from them!
Bites Tale : I was so excited to eat the donuts my sis bought... but my mum put them in the fridge when i was out with friends.. i can't reheat them in the oven because of the chocolate and icing topping... so they ended up to be the worst donuts i have eaten.. sigh.. how i wish my mum didn't put them in the fridge!
A friend gave this to us... he said it's homemade mooncake and very, very yummilicious!
Frankly speaking... i never saw such a "beautiful" mooncake before.. they look so cute that i took the knife out instantly when i saw them.. can't wait to taste!
The taste was nothing to be shout about... it's made of yam.. real yam.. and the skin is pastry like.. something like the texture of a danish... it is different from the other mooncakes you could get from outside, i feel like i was eating a pie than a mooncake (i lurveeee pie!). I would strongly recommend this to those who don't like sweet mooncake... and for those who like their mooncake sweet, they would think it's tasteless.. like what my mum commented.

Pic : The donuts that fly all the way from KL.. though they look ugly.. but my sis "protected" them through out her journey back home...
