Walking the journey together...still...

Bites Tale : I've got a "Money Can't Buy" pendant... there's only 1 in this world.. and yes, it's from him... specially made for me... by him.. i.e. with his own hands... Though you'll think it's rough and not nicely shaped, but it's perfect to me!

Some friends have been wondering what's happening between him and i. And some are worried about how things are going. Luckily after a few days of "cooling-off period", we both made an effort to talk about it last night and decided to continue "walking the journey" together.

So what were we fighting about?

The big "C" word.

If you have ever read about the book : "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus", you'll learn the differences between how men and women see things differently.

Like for our case, he sees things 1 by 1, subject by subject while i tends to lump everything together... he is kind off laid back while i am those very nervous type... he is someone who can tackle ad-hoc things while i am those who prefer to plan early and if possible, try to settle foreseeable happenings before it happens so that nothing can affect what i have planned. The worst thing is, i am extra sensitive especially in negative thinking.

So, when it comes to taking our relationship forward... i get worried. He is the one i wanna be with, but sometimes his "laid back style" makes me worried... it's like i can't see what is his planning for his future... and for "ours"...

I thought that may be he has been so used to being a bachelor all these years (umm, yes, i'm his 1st gf), he may find it difficult to talk about his planning or he has no planning at all... in actual fact, he scares that he can't fulfilled what i wished. What if he failed? That's why he rather do things "quietly" and hope to show me the result. But he is not aware that this "silence" makes me worried... just in case he is hesitating that i might not be the right one for him.

He is bad in time management.. not that he purposely wants to be late, but when he wanted to do something... he encounters "distraction".. just like he wishes to meet me for lunch yesterday, and he said to me he won't be late this time, but just before lunch, he received a call from a friend who needed help, the friend was injured... he scared that the devil in me comes out giving me negative thinking and wanted to look for me for lunch still, but i rejected. In a way, i understand that he did not do it in purpose again this time... but i'm also a bit upset.. because it seems like he just can't make it on time for me..

But at least, we've got a "fruitful" discussion last night where both of us speak out our thoughts and feelings, and also discuss on how to tackle such differences and what to foresee in the future. (What a waste on all those tears..., come to think of it, he's right... i should have let him talk in the 1st place instead i was too upset to listen and asked him to leave... my bad!)

Meanwhile, thanks for everyone who is concerned about us.

And... more blogging about food again!!!

Makanning at Borneo Proboscis Lodge, Kota Klias

Bites Tale : I had my lunch at Ma Baker's Cafe today and as i was snapping pics on my food, the cafe owner, Christina, approached me and asked why was i snapping pics on the food... so for the 1st time ever, i told someone i have a food blog (i hope she'll forget how i look like and what's my name!!). Then, she told me she has seen others taking pictures on the food and her cafe before and when she asked why, they ran away... i took the opportunity to tell her also that there's so much raves and good verdicts about her cafe in the internet world i.e. in blogs and also Ravejoint... that's how i knew about her cafe and that's why i'm there.. in my quest to get my hands on nice food!! (P/S : Will be blogging about her cafe soon, so stay "tune" ya!)

Remember about my 1st trip to Borneo Proboscis River Lodge?

As the 1st trip was packed with tourists from Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan, i didn't have the chance to take pics on the food they served as the food station was always crowded, so i couldn't blog about it. I went there again with my family last week and this time, i make sure i get all the food pics i want!

So here goes... 1st, the afternoon tea break (they called it Hi-Tea) at 4pm where they'll serve you with some local malay dedicacies with coffee and tea before the river cruise (if you want to see pics on the river cruise, click the link in the 1st para!!) :-

Pic : Banana Fritters

Pic : Kuih Ondeh-Ondeh (My favourite!!)

Pic : Not sure what is this.. is make of sago

Pic : Mini Donuts

Pic : Chinese Red Glutinous kuih with red bean paste fillings

Then, dinner was ready when we came back after our river cruise, my uncle from Canada was surprised that their cooking was quite good (He had a bad experience just a day before the trip when a local renowned resort served "smelly" crabs to him and his friends... so i guess may be he kinda expecting the worst at this place which is far away from the city!) .. Yes, indeed.. although their selling point was the river cruise to see proboscis monkeys and fire flies... but they also make an effort to ensure nice cooking and variety for their guests.. which i really appreciate!

Some of the food pics i took that nite :-

If i remembered correctly, apart from all these.. there were also beef soup, chicken soup, japanese beancurd in garlic oil, some other dishes and also fruits. However, the only drinks they served was plain water.. if they could offer some cordial, it would be better.

Although they are charging slightly higher than the rest of the lodges there.. but i think it's really worth it and i would never hesitate to recommend it to anyone who wants to go for Klias river cruise!

Ngau Chap... Where is the best Ngau Chap in KK?

Bites Tale : Sigh... the more i look at this photo.. the more i'm mad with the photographer.. he/she is supposed to capture HER best feature... if she can't be the finalist.. it's the photographer fault!!! She's much much prettier than this.. go check out THIS and THIS... big difference lah i tell you... I really hope she wins... Do vote for her HERE ya (and bear with the photo)! Please, please...

In case you are wondering what Ngau Chap is... it's actually Beef Soup served with Rice Vermicille or Noodle.. (I think Ngau Chap is cantonese... or hakka? may be lah.. not sure about that :P)

To be frank, i haven't actually tasted real good Ngau Chap.. every shop that serves Ngau Chap kind of has its own flavour... some with white carrots, some without.. but to me, as long as the broth is thick enough.. it's nice, but i have yet to end my quest in searching for the best Ngau Chap. So this time, i'll just introduce a place which my parents like to go when they are craving for Ngau Chap :

This shop is located at Gaya Street... I am very lousy in identifying the exact location so i can't tell you what shops are near by.. i only know it's at the corner of a row of shop.. think is the 2nd or 3th roll of shops if you come from opposite Jesselton Hotel. There are 2 stalls there.. one serves Ngau Chap and one serves Laksa... so the Ngau Chap one looks like this :

I tried to cut down on beef but i just can't resist this :

Pic : Meatballs Soup with Rice Vermicille

Hahaha... meatball eats meatballs... and this is how their Ngau Chap looks like :

Overall the taste is quite good, soup is thick enough and they give generous portion of beef.

So, anyone out there who knows where the best Ngau Chap in KK is... let me know ya!

This is not something unusual for those Female Magazine's readers.

But this year's contest is sure something unusual to me... because,

One of my online buddy is on the list! You could see that she's really pretty... if not, she won't be able to be in the running of the contest.. but to me, she's more than a pretty face... she always give me an impression of being "Genuine"... she's just a normal student who can really speaks out what's she thinks... (I could never do that when i was younger... even now is still a bit difficult for me)

Huh? You don't believe? Go read her blog!

Believe me, you'll like her... and she is from Kota Kinabalu.. yes... a real Sabahan! I really wish she could win this... she's got the look, the height and all she lacks of is your support to win this! I really, really hope she could win (gosh, i'm repeating the same sentence twice in one paragraph!)

See what my mum got!

Bites Tale : The lunch went on smoothly... i didn't tripped or made myself look silly.. his family was quiet but nice, and his bro keeps taking our photos ;P ...... I'm going to miss him as he went outstation again...

One of my online buddy voted me in one of those social website that i'm most likely to sing in the bathroom... i can't stand it but to laugh...

I asked her how she knew that... and she said : "hahaha... i kinda sense it!"

Terror huh? O.O

Ok, back to the story..

My mum loves Nestle Kit Kat Wafer Bar a lot.. so every one who knows that will definitely get her some Kit Kats when visiting her... but i was really surprised when one of her friend from Brunei gave her this :

Nice?

It's a chocolate moist cake her friend "copied" the look from a Kit Kat Bar...

Taste really, really good!

How i wish i can decorate like this!
