Ngau Chap... Where is the best Ngau Chap in KK?

Bites Tale : Sigh... the more i look at this photo.. the more i'm mad with the photographer.. he/she is supposed to capture HER best feature... if she can't be the finalist.. it's the photographer fault!!! She's much much prettier than this.. go check out THIS and THIS... big difference lah i tell you... I really hope she wins... Do vote for her HERE ya (and bear with the photo)! Please, please...

In case you are wondering what Ngau Chap is... it's actually Beef Soup served with Rice Vermicille or Noodle.. (I think Ngau Chap is cantonese... or hakka? may be lah.. not sure about that :P)

To be frank, i haven't actually tasted real good Ngau Chap.. every shop that serves Ngau Chap kind of has its own flavour... some with white carrots, some without.. but to me, as long as the broth is thick enough.. it's nice, but i have yet to end my quest in searching for the best Ngau Chap. So this time, i'll just introduce a place which my parents like to go when they are craving for Ngau Chap :

This shop is located at Gaya Street... I am very lousy in identifying the exact location so i can't tell you what shops are near by.. i only know it's at the corner of a row of shop.. think is the 2nd or 3th roll of shops if you come from opposite Jesselton Hotel. There are 2 stalls there.. one serves Ngau Chap and one serves Laksa... so the Ngau Chap one looks like this :

I tried to cut down on beef but i just can't resist this :

Pic : Meatballs Soup with Rice Vermicille

Hahaha... meatball eats meatballs... and this is how their Ngau Chap looks like :

Overall the taste is quite good, soup is thick enough and they give generous portion of beef.

So, anyone out there who knows where the best Ngau Chap in KK is... let me know ya!

Agree with namor... i oways go to the one at hilltop. Not bad.. tender meat and various other parts of the beef. But, the soup can be too salty.

Yes! the Mengatal one is the best... Hilltop one is more on artificial flavoring, fine for beginners but for connoisseurs the Mengatal one is the best in the whole of Malaysia!
